Jay is an avid fan of National Public Radio and even won an essay contest sponsored by their show "Along for the Ride".
Jay is involved in Toastmasters International, which is an organization dedicated to helping people improve their communication skills. He has served as the secretary for District 56 Toastmasters (2001 - 2002). He is the webmaster for UUCA Toastmasters and is also a member of Dogwood Toastmasters.
